Aldesago, Bré

Brè-Aldesago, the highest district on Monte Brè and part of Lugano since 1971, has 1,072 inhabitants. Its characteristic historic centre consists of narrow cobblestoned alleys and adjacent old stone houses surrounded by small gardens. After the construction of the funicular (1907-1912) and of the road (1912), the area became a residential and tourist destination. The panoramic view from the slopes of the mountain offers a breathtaking sight, comprising the lake and its mountains up to the snow-capped Monte Rosa chain.
