Sonvico
Sonvico, part of Lugano since 2013, is a neighbourhood with a well-maintained ancient medieval centre. It has 2,098 inhabitants and is located at the entrance of Valcolla, about 10 km from the centre of Lugano. Its wide and varied territory includes chestnut and beech forests, crossed by two rivers, the Cassarate and Franscinone, along with numerous smaller rivulets. Dominated by the imposing limestone formation of Denti della Vecchia, it offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills. It is a quiet area with dwellings, some businesses, and farmland, and offers a balance between suburban living and access to Lugano's urban services, while keeping an efficient connection via roads and public transportation.
